Congratulations to Bambi Francisco and the team at Vator.TV on their big launch tonight. I think this is a very cool idea. It’s a unique video-centric environment for entrepreneurs to meet funders, strategic partners and vendors.
Some skeptics might wonder if an open forum is really the way to get an idea funded. Will ideas be compromised through this sort of exposure? Will a backer really become engaged by watching a 2-3 minute video clip?
Well, we shall see how this all works out, but I think it’s exciting. You might remember from the last boom the much hyped concept of business-to-business "exchanges" — industry specific portals where goods and services were exchanged. Well, it never really happened. I think that Vator.TV is in the vanguard of a feasible B2B exchange model.
In the clip above, Bambi and Vator.TV co-founder Cyril Brignone announce the launch Vator.TV and yes, pitch their business proposition.
Check out the take of CNET’s Rafe Needleman on Vator. Back in the day, Rafe was a one-person "business exchange" himself when he authored the hugely influential "Catch of the Day" newsletter at Red Herring.
