Blogrunner, the semi-automated blog aggregation engine owned by The New York Times Company, has just gone live on many of the technology pages of the NYTimes.com.
Visitors can find relevant links to blog and news sources in the Related Stories from Around the Web section, located just below articles. Here at the purple channel, we have seen the first referrals from The Times in our log reports, which I’ve pasted below. We blogged about Chris Anderson today and got linked at the bottom of this story.
There’s been much said by Michael Arrington at TechCrunch and others comparing the utility and power of Blogrunner vs. Techmeme. Techmeme is an immensely useful and influential destination. It’s where tech insiders keep up with what’s happening.
The main index pages of Blogrunner are similar in some ways. But it’s the implementation/syndication of Blogrunner on a publishing site that is very different.
I was at The New York Times this morning to interview Saul Hansell, a 10-year veteran of the tech beat at the Times. Saul is the editor of Bits and has played a key role in implementing Blogrunner on the tech pages. Presumably, Blogrunner will be seen on other sections of the paper.
