Congrats to Techmeme‘s Gabe Rivera for winning the Crunchie Award last night in San Francisco. Gabe won best bootstrapped start-up for his powerful aggregation site that sorts blog and news sources automatically.

Gabe really does bootstrap all this himself. He told me when we spoke in Hollywood in May that he does everything himself at his home in Silicon Valley — except his taxes. I understand that advertising sponsorships on Techmeme are doing well so he may well need some extra accounting help for the past year. Way to go, Gabe.
TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington is a big fan of Techmeme — not just how cool it is but how it directly impacts his business. He wrote a couple of weeks ago that Techmeme refers more traffic to TechCrunch than any other source.
TechCrunch is the reigning king of the Techmeme Leaderboard, the list of the 100 most influential sources (Beet.TV has hovered around the # 50 spot recently.)
