"How to videos" are propagating on the Web and some producers are making a reputation for themselves and some money. Kip Kedersha, an independent video producer is getting millions of views and is the top earner on Metacafe, New York Times reporter Miguel Helft reports today.
Not sure how all the new startups will fare, but "how to" or instructional videos have long shelf life, meaning most don’t get dated and can be searched over along period of time. This is "long tail" content.
One of the most interesting and well capitalized of the new "how to" start-ups is New York-based Howcast, started by former senior Google executives. In this segment, we visit Howcast in Manhattan and interview co-founders Daniel Blackman and Jason Liebman.
