Here’s more from the Beet’s chat with Jason Pontin in his Cambridge office, overlooking the Charles River and the Boston skyline beyond. Jason was the longtime editor of Red Herring magazine before coming to Tech Review, and he has chronicled the rise of the Internet and the growth of community created content.
Jason thinks that the rise of social networking, coupled with the simple and inexpensive video production costs that allow users on sites like MySpace to incorporate video into their expressions of personality, will be a dramatic realization of the potential of the Web. He calls online video the “clearest indication of the internet’s power to breakdown barriers to communication.”
And in other online video news, MIT’s Technology Review, the world’s oldest technology publication, will be integrating video onto its site next month.
