Blinkx, the video search engine/advertising network, is proving the high value proposition of in-stream advertising by charging "north of $60" per thousand views for overlay ads.
The San Francisco/London-based company has found that video from certain creators, such as independent British television network ITN, can command these stratospheric prices.
This is big money and a very exciting and bullish development for online video advertising. Of course, not all videos on Blinkx command this price, some garner just $7.
I was in San Jose earlier this week at Streaming Media West where I caught up with Blinkx CEO and founder Suranga Chandratillake.
Below is a screen shot of the overlay ad for the official Apple Store on clips from ITN.
