Vator.tv is a place where entrepreneurs pitch business ideas, in short videos, to potential investors.  Since its launch last summer, it has had over a thousand companies around the world participate through slick and funky video uploads.

We reported recently that the company has closed on a second round of early stage funding.

There’s a lot of excitement at Vator around a competition of companies hoping to get funded by Demand Media and win other prizes.

Over sixty companies have entered the competition.  Registered members of the Vator community vote and the judges make the final selections.  The winner get to personally pitch Demand Media’s Richard Rosenblatt.  Rosenblatt is the former CEO of MySpace.  His new company, Demand Media, has raised $320 million and is on the hunt for acquisitions.  (Rosenblatt is an investor in Vator.tv)

The winner gets some serious blog exposure with profiles on VentureBeat, Mashable and Beet.TV as well as consulting and infrastructure services.

We’ve checked out some of 25 most highly rated submissions and there are some good ones.   I posted above a cool pitch by Mixmonsta, a Pennsylvania-company that has a video mash-up platform.   The company is currently in the top 5.

Beet.TV is a media sponsor of the competition and I am one of the judges.
