Kent Nichols, co-creator of the web video sensation "Ask a Ninja," has just been tapped to co-write the remake of the schlock classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
My colleague Daisy Whitney of TV Week spoke with Kent about the project earlier this week at SXSW in Austin.
It’s very exciting to see how online video success builds reputation and budding careers.
Kent is not only a talented writer and performer, he has monetized niche Web content. He says the key is establishing a subset of a larger audience that will buy stuff. Check this out.
This segment is one of several produced by TV Week and Beet.TV from the SXSW conference. Thanks to Daisy for all the terrific reporting. And to producer Jeff Brooks for the great work. Oh, and thanks to TV Week editor Greg Baumann for facilitating this collaboration.
More to come.
