Yahoo service BuzzTracker's "Most Blogged" feature, which tracks the most linked-to blog posts on the Internet, has been incorporated into the Beta version of the Yahoo News page, Yahoo News General Manager Alan Warms says in this interview. Yahoo acquired BuzzTracker last year, which Warms founded, and is tracking posts from 90,000 blogs with its algorithmic technology.
The general release of the new Yahoo News page, currently in Beta, will take place in the next couple of weeks, according to Warms. At the bottom on news stories, links to popular blog posts and related stories discussing the topic will be added to give context. TechCrunch has a review of the beta site, which you can read here.
I interviewed Warms at the TimeWarner Politics 08 Summit earlier this week. In the segment, he also discusses Yahoo news' ad strategy.
Yahoo News, the number one online news source, had 41 million unique users last month–7 million more than its nearest competitor, according to Warms. In addition to display ads, Yahoo uses its search functionality as well as assets Blue Lithium and Right Media to monetize content.
