In comments at the Beet.TV Online Video Roundtable in San Francisco last month, Wilfred Martis, Director of Platform Strategy, said that a considerable amount of this R&D money is being committed to bring Web video to the television.
He said the widget channel with Yahoo! was just a first step. The first TV's with the Yahoo! widget channel launched last month. You can watch a video of how the widget works.
He told the group, that this technology will lead to "pretty radical innovation in the next five years."
