Online video is both hugely different from television and brings more value to TV, CNNMoney.com Anchor Poppy Harlow told Beet.TV earlier this month.
One of the main anchor's for the site and a rising journalism star, Ms. Harlow helms much of the site's daily video coverage. The more flexible medium of the Web has its advantages, she told us. "We put 20 to 30 minute interviews with executive and lawmakers on the site," she said, referencing an interview with Google CEO Eric Schmidt that ran in its entirety on the Web, with snippets appearing in CNN's on-air reports.
Much of her work in the last year has, understandably, focused on the recession. "It matters to everyone. It's the top story. There is no one who isn't affected. The most exciting thing is taking what happens and relating it to viewers and why they should care," she said. That has meant spending a lot of time in Detroit, which she refers to as ground zero for the economy these days.
