LAS VEGAS — Demand for bandwidth at Akamai reached a new, single-day peak of 3.45 Terabits per second (Tbps) of content served on Friday, April 9th, the company says.
This rate of content served is Akamai's highest in more than ten years in business
The record came on a day of the big traffic around the Masters golf tournament and Major League Baseball.
At NAB last week, Daisy spoke with Akamai's Suzanne Johnson about the growing demand for bandwidth from consumers who are watching video in high definition and on multiple devices, notably on the iPhone.
Suzanne says that more publishers are streaming in HD and consumers are enjoying the video at varying connection rates with the help of adaptive streaming technology.
