LOS ANGELES — thePlatform, the Seattle-based online video services provider, aunched today what it calls the first commercially-available, ad-supported video player development kit (PDK) with HTML5 support from a major online video publisher.
Last week at the the Cable Show, we caught up with Marty Roberts, VP with an update on the company's publishing platform.
Earlier this year, the company introduced a service called mpx, simplified console for video management, with the goal of allowing a more personalized user interface, ease of use, and more automation of video publishing functions, said Roberts.
The service is designed to help publishers manage video, metadata, and business processes more easily and to push out content to multiple devices with carrier class reliability, he said.
"Mpx is proving itself out to find a nice balance between very complicated video publishing problems and doing it in a console interface that makes it easy for an editor or publisher to accomplish those tasks," he said.
