AMSTERDAM — As media companies deliver more programming to digital devices, they’re looking for ways to protect the content, grow ad revenues, and place bets on which platforms are the best fit, says Jeff Whatcott, Brightcove’s Chief Marketing Officer, during an interview with Beet.TV at the IBC Show.
We talked to him at the conference about what’s top of mind for media companies including digital rights management and how he sees the Android/Apple world shaking out. Android will be the most widely deployed multiscreen platform, but Apple customers are the most engaged, according to data Brightcove is seeing, Whatcott says in this video interview.
Beyond the platform battles, media companies are evaluating how to protect their content across devices. “That’s another challenge. With multiscreen delivery you need to secure across many screens,” he explains, adding that Brightcove works closely with Google-owned Widevine to include its encryption tools in the video upload and delivery process.
