With extensive live coverage at the Republican and Democratic national conventions, The New York Times is expanding its live programming around big political events says Ann Derry, Editorial Director for Video and Television, in this interview with Beet.TV
And the paper is expanding its audience for its live programming in a new collaboration with YouTube. This is part of the big video site’s expanded live coverage around the 2012 election called the Election Hub.
Tonight’s presidential debate lead-up and post debate wrap-up will be streamed on the Times and on YouTube, Derry says. The paper debuted its live presence with YouTube with the conventions.
The Times begins its pre-debate coverage at 8:30 ET. A major emphasis around tonight’s coverage will be fact checking in real-time.
Also streaming live on YouTube tonight will be ABC News, The Wall Street Journal, BuzzFeed and Al Jazeera.
