In a conference call on Q3 earnings, Brightcove, the big Boston-based video services company, said that both Viacom and Discovery International have become new customers.
Discovery International will be using the company's App Cloud services.
Viacom is adopting the Brightcove cloud services for digital content delivery across platforms and consumer devices and will be using Brightcove player technology across multiple properties for Web and mobile distribution.
The specific Viacom properties to be integrating the Brighcove player were not identified.
In the call, Brigthcove CEO Jeremy Allaire stated: "Another validation in the market of Brightcove's superior offering was our recent win with Viacom, who has adopted Brightcove's cloud services for digital content delivery across platforms with consumer devices. Viacom will be using Brightcove's player technology for multiple properties for web and mobile distribution, as well as our native players, iOS, Android and Xbox.
With Brightcove, Viacom will be able to reliably monetize and measure digital content distribution across devices, regardless of operating system, browser or form factor. Brightcove has also enabled Viacom to sell key challenges, associated with cross-platform, authentication, content protection and closed captioning."
In Amsterdam, at the IBC conference in September, we interviewed Discovery International CEO Mark Hollinger about the company's streaming and multi-platform distribution strategy. We have republished that video today.
