The Vimeo On-Demand division of which former The Daily chief Greg Clayman has become head has ingested a library of over 3,000 videos to sell access to viewers, says Vimeo’s president.
“We’re having great success in the numbers of creators uploading their work,” Dae Mellencamp tells Beet.TV in this video interview. “We’ve also seen the willingness of consumers to purchase.”
IAC-owned Vimeo launched On-Demand in March to sell through access to top-quality material from independent producers. Clayman, who had led News Corp’s shuttered tablet-only news title, was this month picked as general manager of Vimeo’s audience networks.
“We’re really big believers in direct distribution,” Mellencamp says. “We have a lot more coming in the months ahead.”
