Less than five years old, the DMEXCO global business and innovation event scheduled for Sept. 14 and 15 in Cologne continues to achieve new milestones. For the first time, DMEXCO 2016 will host more than 1,000 exhibitors inhabiting just over 1 million square feet of floor space at the Koelnmesse center.
Attracting more than 50,000 attendees, the two-day Digital Marketing Exposition & Conference will feature 570 international speakers during 250 hours of conference programming. Beet.TV will be on site to chronicle the latest innovations and visionary trends impacting brand marketers, agencies, media companies and technology providers.
One of two new stages at DMEXCO will be devoted to broadcasters from around the world, according to event Co-Founder Christian Muche. Called the Motion Hall, it’s described as the first-ever international forum for video and the moving image.
In an interview with Beet.TV earlier this year at the CES show in Las Vegas, Muche explained the continued growth of DMEXCO and what this year’s attendees could expect.
“We are extremely business focused” primarily in the BtoB space, Muche said. This year will see more attention to BtoC, particularly involving the Internet of Things—but with a strategic differentiation: the emphasis won’t be on new products for the sake of new products.
“We call it the Internet of Marketing Things instead of the Internet of Things,” said Muche. “It has to be translated and linked to the marketing business. We can work with products or devices but not because of the product itself, but to explain what it means for consumer communications from tomorrow on.”
A second new stage out of a total of 15 at DMEXCO 2016 is dubbed the Experience Hall, where the focus will be on consumers, connectivity and the future of the customer experience in the context of new technologies like virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
The event won’t be all business. Among other festivities is an after party sponsored by Spotify showcasing singer-songwriter Zara Larsson, who has attracted 16 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. The event is free for all attendees.
