AMENIA, NY— A Googler who recently left to head up a Microsoft Advertising division says she was inspired by Microsoft’s leadership, audience and product offering.

Wendy MacGregor, VP of Global Media & AdTech Solutions, who recently joined the company from Google, says she was drawn to growth and building opportunities.

“We also have an incredibly high quality engaged audience,” MacGregor says. “And when I think about the engagement, it spans across life. It’s work, it’s play, and it’s a great way for us to be thinking about how we frankly provide support and service to many of our consumers that come to us.”

Growth Mindset and Leadership

MacGregor is excited by the empathetic, growth-oriented culture instilled by CEO Satya Nadella, as outlined in his book “Hit Refresh”.

She says she operates with a sense of abundance, not scarcity. “Even if things don’t work out a certain way, I try to look for where there’s opportunity,” MacGregor says.

The company is moving from a “know-it-all” to a “learn-it-all” culture, which helps MacGregor feel comfortable asking questions. “People really appreciate the fact that we can all learn together.”

Finally, MacGregor says she is inspired by the leadership of Microsoft Advertising’s Kya Sainsbury-Carter and Amanda Richman. With this team in place, she believes Microsoft will “do great things in service to our partners and customers.”

Empowering Insights and Responsible Data Use

Microsoft’s Gen AI tool helps understand what audiences are doing, why they’re doing it, and how best to connect with them.

Meanwhile, its Copilot assistant has been a “game changer” for MacGregor personally.

“It’s not a replacement, but it’s actually an empowerment tool,” she says of Copilot. It helps create efficiency and accelerate tasks in both work and personal life.
