Gigya, the largest widget network, has raised $11 million in Series C funding, bringing its fundraising total since its 2006 launch to $23.5 million, Mark Hendrickson at TechCrunch reports.
Akamai Aims to Unite Industry Around Standard Open Video Player
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Content distribution network Akamai Technologies launched Openvideoplayer.com in an effort to unite the video publishing industry around an standardized video player. The base source code Akamai contributed to the Open Video Player has already been used by customers including Hulu and The NBA.
ON Networks Opens Up AllScreen Syndication Platform
Digital media company ON Networks will begin distributing outside content through its AllScreen Syndication Network, a decision that will open up its market, co-founder Jennifer Grogono says. ON Networks produces and distributes its own content to syndication platforms including iTunes, Adobe Media Player, Verizon, and TiVo.
ABC “Opens” Its Video Player to Developers

The Associated Press announced today that it has chosen the Seattle-based video management and publishing company thePlatform to bring broader coverage and higher-quality video to its Online Video Network. For the first time, the AP’s 2,100 affiliate sites will be able to post AP videos to their destination pages using an embeddable player.

MySpace to Accomodate Longer Form Videos with 512 MB Uploads
MySpace will allow users to upload video files of up to 512 MB from the 100 MB limit it has had in place. It also will allow users to upload files directly from video camera to the site.
HP Has Big Hopes with Media Smart Connect, Home Wireless Networking Device
